So I was switching channels and landed on HBO. Red Riding Hood was on. at 1st I loved this movie but now for the 2nd time that I watched it I finally began to see how lack luster the movie was. The costumes especially Amanda Seyfried’s gorgeous red cape and hood caught my attention when I 1st saw it,during the whole movie I was thinking I would look so perfect in that cape. that I was too distracted to actually notice the lack luster chemistry between Amanda and Shiloh Fernandez whom she initially disliked working with due to several differences, but Catherine Hardwicke, The acclaimed director of Twilight bought this classic fairy tale into something teenage youths obsess about. Vampires,Werewolves, The damsel trying to be a heroine and finally the seductive lure such super natural creatures pose to mortals. ( We saw that when Vampires and Werewolves like Edward,Jacob,Damon and Stefan Salvatore came into the big screen) but the reinvention of this classic fairy tale was ruined not because of the jaw dropping costumes and others. it was ruined because of the SCRIPT. it had a good concept to it. but it just didn’t work out in the big screen. it looked like a copy of Twilight. the way Amanda Seyfried was acting was what Bella Swan did in twilight. Torn between 2 guys (OH GOD doesn’t that happen once or twice in our daily lives!) but this theme was shown a lot already both in the TV and movie industry. Will there ever be something different to show now? Everyone’s always looking for something new, something that’s original but we can never find it because whatever we want to do is either done or about to be done that is why the movie industry lately hasn’t come up with anything original so they decide to mooch off such classics like Red Riding hood or books. That’s why I prefer reading books, you can just let your imagination go wild without worrying about critics or what not. it’s just much more fun. how come script writers for movies aren’t acting original? what happened to good old writers that write for creativity? don’t they exist anymore? because it’s such a damn shame to let this industry die. When will directors like James Cameron tutor these new directors not too depend and buy other people’s work and try to reinvent it when they can create their own? hello directors are suppose to be damn GOOD. but some newbies just ruin it thinking that this industry is just about money when clearly it’s not. everything is supposed to be an art not just a job.
